7/28/2012 Summer Breeze

We have a new group to take crafting to a our limit which we are proudly calling I Double Dog Dare You. I am Double Dog Daring you for our first challenge which we are calling Summer Breeze. Ok, granted, I know the heat hats soared to new heights this summer in some areas but let's have some sweet thoughts of our "Happy Place". Now again, just as a reminder, the only limit to our wonderful creative group will be their creativity!

See the curtains hangin' in the window in the evenin' on a Friday night
A little light a-shinin' through the window lets me know everything is alright
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
blowing through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin' on the sidewalk a little music from the house next door
So I walked on up to the doorstep through the screen and across the floor
Sweet days of summer the jasmine's in bloom
July is dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day's work and you're waiting there not a care in the world
See the smile a-waitin' in the kitchen food cookin' and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me in the evening when the day is through
Summer Breeze Lyrics by Seals and Croft

July 25th, Anything Stitched

Sew - A needle pulling thread; unless of course you're a crafter. That's when sewing becomes more than a needle pulling thread. 7/23/2012 Mary Poppins Just a Spoonful of Sugar Blog Hop

Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way . . . a strong gust of wind sends allt he prospective nanny's helter skelter cue Mary Poppins to float gently down to the front door with her umbrella to fill the position of a nanny for 2 cantakerous chidren whose father is a banker! Add Bert to the mix of characters who sells kites, cleans chimneys and has a "tea party" where everyone floats to the ceiling with Bert's uncle and his infectious laugh ..... and then the magical carousel that takes them on a fox hunt! What wonderful sparks of imagination.

Mary Poppins was based on the book series by P.L. Travers and in 1964 Disney made this into a full-feature musical film with Julie Andrews as the starring role of Mary Poppins who stays until the wind changes direction and Bert, Dick VanDyke, sells his kites.

We will showcase projects both from the book along with Disney's interpretation of Mary Poppins as who wouldn't want a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down! If you just happened on my doorstep by mistake as the wind set you here, I wouldn't want you to miss a single adventure and would love for you to start at the beginning with Lynne (http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/). You should have arrived from Carolyn - www.messmuddleandfun.blogspot.com which means the wind is going in the right direction and you floated down gently!

In the immortal words of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, we have some wonderful sponsors that are giving a spoonful of sugar to help you on your way be posting a comment on each of the hops along the way!

For my project today, I used a coloring sheet from Disney.com, and colored it with my Prisma Colors.

As the wind changes, so does Mary Poppins visit ends on my blog but I hope you have enjoyed the wonderful scenes of Mary Poppins.

Shrek and Donkey Together Again Blog Hop

Welcome to Shrek and Donkey Together Again Blog Hop!!!! Aren't they the most unlikely duo around? Shrek an ugly ogre who says "Ogre's are like onions, you need to peal the layers to know about them" and Donkey, what can I say but he is the sidekick that loves waffles for breakfast and talks a mile a minute!!! The two together rescue a damsel in distress for fairy tale dispising Lord Farquaad who wants Fiona . . . The movie and musical are actually are loosely based on a book by William Steig"s 1990 book called "Shrek!". The movie parodies nursery rhymes which not only makes a great kid's movie but great adult entertainment as only an adult can appreciate!!!We have a small but fabulous line-up for you today as we depict this fun-loving duo.

  1. Lynne ~ http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
  2. Anita~ http://www.anitaandbugs.blogspot.com
  3. Lisa ~ http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/
  4. Kimberly ~ http://scrappingrookie.blogspot.com

My card is made with an image of Shrek and Fiona in their onion carriage.  The image came from educationalcoloringpages.com.  The embellishments are from Cassie's Craftspot.

Thanks for stopping by our little neck of the woods as all the fairy tale characters are hiding her to avoid that Lord Farquaad and as you know what they say about him .......

Apology time---Horse vs. Cow Blog Hop

I participated in the Horse vs. Cow Blog Hop this weekend.  The horse I made was a pattern from http://www.scrappingwithLisadesigns.com  .  I failed to credit the pattern in my blog write up.  I am on Lisa's Design Team and enjoy using her patterns so much.  I am so sorry about this oversight.  Most of you know how technology challenged I am and this was just a crazy weekend.  My DH was making most of my posts and I failed to communicate all I wanted on there.  Again---Lisa-I do apologize.  I know you realize mistakes are just that......mistakes.

    7-16-2012 INKED Blog Hop

Welcome to INKED -- I love the artwork that is being used in tattoos and its amazing how many people are getting tattoos now-a-days and its not just for bikers or marines anymore! This hop then is dedicated to the beautiful artwork whether you have a tattoo or not . . .

Lynne Kirsch got her first tattoo in 2000 and its of Winnie the Pooh floating ...upwards with 3 balloons on her upper thigh. She now wants to get another tattoo and hopefully it will be this year of angel wings with a quilt square in the center with her little angel's name above the wings.

We all get tattoos for various reasons. I have noticed that women that with breast cancer that have their breast removed are now a large group of getting tattoos. When my lump was first found and of course with all the concern -- I thought and still feel that if and when my breast would be removed, I want to have a glorious tattoo of a peacock!!!!

The art of tattoo can be anything as simple as a name or as beutiful as a peacock and there is always a story behind a tattoo.

This blog hop is dedicated to the stories and the artwork behind a tattoo. If you happen to visit today at my blop, I appreciate the visit but I would love for you to appreciate all the wonderful projects that are being displayed today and would want you to stop at the first inking with Lynne at http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com. If you arrived from visiting <insert preivous blog here> then you are on the right artful path of inking!!!!

We are very blessed and fortunate to have Daisy Collins of I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose for $10 of merchandise in her zibbet store (http://www.zibbet.com/tsunamirose)

I don't have a tatoo, so I made a card featuring a tatoo that perhaps a WWII soldier would had have.  I remember growing up seeing men of that era with tatoos with "mom" or the name of their girl of them.

Your next stop along the path of INKED is Miriam ~ http://miriamscreations.blogspot.com/

Thanks for stopping today and visiting our tribute to inking with the glorious artwork behind tattoos!
